Das Numen SonorSchinkel Pavillon, Berlin 2013Curated by Nele HeinevetterSeven seismographs were placed in the city of Berlin. They were connected by means of real-time data transmission to theDas Numen Sonor installation in the Schinkel Pavillon.The setup in the exhibition space consisted of seven low-frequency loudspeakers, each attached to one of the windows of the octagonal room. With this method the vibrations of the city (a mixture of tectonic and artificial vibration) were transmitteddirectly to the window planes. Due to the tactile qualities of the low audio frequencies, an acoustic and physical experience arose: the superimposed oscillations in space established a constantly changing ephemeral body. The seven places where the seismographs were located became active musicians, collectively transforming the Schinkel Pavillon into a musical instrument played by the city itself.Das Numen Sonor was realized in collaboration with the Geophysiches Institut Potsdam (GIP) / GFZ - Helmholtz-Zentrum Potsdam and Reckhorn LTD.

Das Numen SonorSchinkel Pavillon, Berlin 2013Curated by Nele HeinevetterIn Kollaboration mit dem Geophysischen Institut Potsdam (GIP) wurden von Das Numen im Stadtraum Berlins sieben Seismographen (Geophone) positioniert, die via Echtzeit-Datentenübertragung mit der Installation im Ausstellungsraum des Schinkel Pavillons in Verbindung standen. Die Installation bestand aus sieben Tieffrequenzlautsprechern die jeweils an einer der den oktogonalen Raum begrenzenden Scheibenfront angebracht waren. Über diese Lautsprecher wurden die Vibrationen der Stadt direkt auf die Scheiben übertragen.Tieffrequenzen sind hörbar und fühlbar, dadurch entstand eine sich ständig ändernde Klang- und Raumerfahrung: Die sich überlagernden Schwingungen im Pavillon kreierten einen sich ständig ändernden Raumklangkörper.
