Vavilov tools, 2015
Vavilov intervention, Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy 2015stainless steel weigth, 1200m rope, spool, Galleria Mario Iannelli, Rome, Italy 2015'Equipped with a weight, a rope and a boat, I traveled into the centre of the Tyrrhenian Sea to touch the volcano Vavilov, 800m below the water surface. I let down the weight. I sensed the moment it would touch the ground. I sensed a connection tothe invisible 800 meters below. I sensed 800 meters: The force on the weight drastically dropped as the weight landed. Gravitation had stopped to pull.'

Vavilov intervention documented by Johannes Förster
Thank you Mario Iannelli. Thank you Boris Herrmann and Dalila Calabrese for connecting meto the right people, Luca Grosso and Francesco Lanzillo for skipping in extreme February conditions, Johannes Förster for documenting and Ekaterina Burlyga for your help on board.
‚I want to touch the volcano Vavilov. Vavilov is located right in the center of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The 2840m volcano‘s peak reaches 739 meters below the water surface. With a long rope and a weight I will be able to touch it. I will sense a direct contact when the weight is touching the volcano‘s surface.‘
