Erdkreis
Erdkreis, acrylic glass dome, steel, micro processors, LED light system, 160x160x20cm, 2025 (under construction)
Winning the first price of the archtectural art award for the Federal German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt Berlin) allowed me to develop and construct a ultra-low-frequency antenna, capturing Schumann resonances, an electromagnetic Earth frequency caused by weather events in our Earth's atmosphere, which are not perceptible to us with the naked ear. The permanently installed architectural light–object Erdkreis displays a direct translation of the captured frequency and will illuminate the Federal Environment Agency's foyer from 2025. The light sources installed inside the object express a real-time data translation into light color and strength. The aesthetic lighting experience will unobtrusively fill the foyer’s central space with color employees, visitors and curious will roam and wonder through. Our perceptual apparatus lacks the cognitive ability to perceive this frequency with bare senses. Through Erdkreis our sensory perception is permanently expanded. An invisible physical phenomenon of our world is materialized, made ‚accessible' to the public, looped back into the world through the viewer's impressions.
